4— LABOUR DAY. At a meeting of the committee of the Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling ) Club it Avas reported that arrangements I are Avell in hand for the Club’s meeting ( to be held in the Domain on Monday I next (Labour Day), entries for Avhicli closed on Saturday evening. The cyc- ■ ling events haA'e filled splendidly, Avliile ] the field and running events, although ). not so Avell filled, are very fair consid- * ering it is so early in the season. Since • the Club’s last meeting the cycling track has been widened and further improved and to ensure that it Avill be in perfect order , for Monday men have been engaged to give it the final touches. It Avas hoped to have this work completed last Aveek but it Avas delayed OAving to the wet weather. HoAvever, all that. noAv remains is a fine day and a successful gathering is assured. We have been asked to state that tlie tAvo mile Silent Flyer Cycle race for silver cup donated by Mr C. Young is only open to riders of cycles purchased from Mr Young, irrespective of make. Messrs McVilly and Tracey, chairman and secretary of the N.Z.A.A.A,. and Messrs O’Sullivan and McCormick, members of the executive of the Wellington Centre, have expressed their intention to be present at the Sports on Monday.
