BRITISH MAKES SELECTED.

It was officially announced' yesterday that a fresh twelve months' contract for the supply of gramophones to the schools throughout the Doniinipn had ! been accepted by the Education Department. The two machines jointlyselected are of British manufacture — the Columbia (Messrs Bannatyne and [Hunter, agents) and His Master's Voice (Messrs E. J. Hyanis). A reporter Avas informed that after tenders had closed a committee of experts into the matter and examined about twenty different makes of machines, from which the tvvo mentioned above Avere selected. Where schools require gramophones, the local sdhopl committee provide half the cost and the State the balance, it being a condition, of course, that either the His Master's Voice or the Columbia machine is purchased.
