SUPPORT YOUR OWN TOWN.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l have lived in Shannon three years, but am not a ratepayer and have no interests in that town apart from it being the place, where I earn my daily bread. Which reason is sufficient, in my opinion, for me to support and help the place by all means in my power. One way of doing this is bjr supporting the businesses in the town (especially when they are as^cheap as'elsewhere, and so keeping niy fellow workers in employment. But it is regrettable that all do not think so for almost daily I see an outside firm calling on two prominent members of the Borough Council, and some prominent business men. These men have not the good of. the town at heart, or else they are very short sighted. Howcan they expect the town to 1 advance or other citizens to support them, when they order their daily necessities from outside firms. Tbese citizens should rather set the example, for they have more at stake than we workers. If the place is good enough to live in, it is good enough to support, and. for them to say publicly that they have the welfare of Shannon at heart, and act as they do is hypocrisy.—l am, etc., ' - FLAXIE.
