STRAYING CATTLE.

OWNERS PAY THE PENALTY. Six cases of wandering stock were brought by Mr J. A. Swindlehurst, ranger toi the Shannon Borough Council, before Messrs T. Brown and P. W. Goldsmith, J.’sP., at the Levin Magistrate’s Court to-day. Fines were inflicted as follow: V. Pickard, permitting one cow to wander along Venn Street, was fined * 10s and costs 7s. ‘ - A. Grumwald, allowing one horse to wander along Vogel Street, was fined 20s and costs 7s. W. Moynihan permitted a horse to stray into Plimmer Terrace and was fined 15s and costs 7s. - A. Tremewan allowed a cow and two heifers to be at large in Plimmer Terrace. , Fined 10s and costs 7s. For a second offence of a like nature he was ordered to pay 10s and costs. J, Ewart was fined iOs and costs 7s for permitting a horse to stray along Margaret Street.
