SHANNON BOWLING CLUB.

i *- annual meeting. > ■ The Shannon Bowling Club held 1 its annual meeting on Wednesday evening. This Is the second occasion ' an annual meeting has been held, ' one having taken place a few weeks ago. Owing to the Club having be- ! come an incorporated body and the •' rules distinctly stating that the meet- { ing must be held in July, when all officers are to be elected and the report and balance sheet adopted, Wednesday night’s meeting was held -to conform with these rules. ■ A motion was carried that all minutes relating to the past meeting be transferred to this one, which includes the election of officers, adoption of report and balance sheet, and authority at Bank. The secretary (Mr A. Mason) presented the balance sheet in connection with the recent ball, which showed that the takings were £4B 15s 6d and after paying all expenses, there was left a. balance of £2O 15s Id. Votes -of thanks were accorded the President (Mr A. T. White) and the secretary (Mr A. Mason) for the valuable services rendered by them in connection with tile Ball. It was also decided to officially place on record the Club’s thanks to the ladies who had assisted.

The Croquet Club .wrote asking the Club to undertake to top-dress fhe croquet green, towards the cost of which they would spend up to £lo. The request has been attended to. It was resolved that members' subscription for the ensuing season be the sain-e as last year, viz., £2 10s.. o>n Wednesday next a working bee will cut the green, after which they will roll and top dress it and put it in order in readiness for the coming season.

The* President stated that he and the secretary had been considering ways, and means of making the game more pleasurable to all concerned. They recommended that more visits should be made to outside clubs and suggested that one visit a month be made, over a period of six months. One month Wednesday rinks would travel and the folloiving month Saturday rinks. He recommended that lists of dates be drawn up now and forwarded to neighbouring clubs, who would then be able to make their arrangements accordingly. They would probably get return visits from the Clubs visited, ancr these could be made gala days. He said he realised that means of transport H n the past had prevented many frorn ; travelling and he would suggest that, arrangements be made to hire a charabanc, if possible. The meeting decided to carky out the recommendation. In regard to club challenge trophies, it was decided that the limitation pf time for accepting challenges he onte week. On a challenge being made,' the names of holders and challengers be placed on the board, together with the* date of challenge. It: is the Club’s intention now that they have the electric light installed on the green ,to encourage night play during the coming season.
