SHANNON CHORAL SOCIETY’S CONCERT.
THURSDAY EVENING. On Thursday evening the Shannon Choral Society will be giving its concert in the Maoriland Theatre at 8 p.m. The public are reminded that ticket holders have preference of seats up to 7.45 p.m. The choir, numbering 46 strong, under the able baton of Mr Howard Andrew, have spared no pains in bringing to perfection the works under* study. In addition, outside talent wall render assistance and also Miss A. Aim and Mr R. R. Bishop, who are well-known to the public as experienced vocalists. As will be seen by the very good programme, from an educative point of view, the public are indeed fortunate in having such an able society in the town. Much time has been spent by the choir an perfecting the works to be given, and the Society well deserves the recognition and support of -the residents. Tickets are selling well and a full house is expected. Two. years ago New Zealand poultry farmers ventured on a export trade in eggs which has proved highly successful. Last year there were not sufficient eggs in the country to satisfy tire requirementes of the English market, with the result that this season the representatives of the British importing firms are early on the scene and offering still better prices. It is reported that poultrykeepers have been offered as much as Is 7d-a. dozen for all they can ' produce. If the report is correct, v house-wives can reckon on the retail price over the shop counters this summer being equally as high.
