t MANY OWNERS FINED. j Sixteen owners of cattle which were not under sufficient control, appeared at the Levin Courthouse this morning, Messrs H. J. Richards and T. Hobson, j.'sP., being on the Bench. Mr G. Watson, ranger of the H'orowhenua County Council, brought the charges, as under:— R McLean was fined 5s and 12s costs for allowing three horses to wander on the Arupuepae Road. H. Mason, lined :iOs and costs 13s, for allowing seven cows to wander on the-County Road at Manakau. N. S. Barnett, fined 20s and 7s costs lor allowing one cow and one heifer to wander, on two occasions on the Main Road at Ohau. A. V. Hornig was summoned for permitting six cows to twice wander on the Beach. Road, while on another occasion five of his cows were also found wandering along the same thoroughfare.— Fined 30s and 13s costs on the first charge, and convicted and discharged on the two other charges. P. Drakei allowed two cows to wander on the Muhunoa West Road, and two cows and one horse on the County Road at Ohau.—Fined 30s and 13s costs on the first, and convicted and discharged on the second charge. H. Mulling allowed 12 cows to wander on McLeavey Road, Ohau, and was fined 10s and costs 31s. J. Cameron was fined 5s and 10s costs for allowing one of his cows to be at large on the Main Road, Ohau. Allowing one cow to wander along the Main Road at Manakau on two occasions, and another cow to stray on the Beach Road, Manakau, R. T. Day was fined 30s and costs 13s on the first charge, convicted and ordered to-pay 7s court costs in connection with the second,' v and a like amount on the third. Luke Perewhiti was called upon to pay 10s and costs 12s for permitting a mare and foal, eight cows and two calves to stray oh the' Main Road at* Kuku^ H. Hanita allowed one cow 1 to be at large on the Beach Road, Weraroa, and was fined 10s and costs 9s for his negligence. A fine of 5s and costs 9s was imposed upon R. Sunckell for permitting one of his cows to wander on the Main Road at Tokomaru. A. Campbell incurred a fine of £3' and costs 15s for permitting three cows to wander along a public road , at Tokomaru. I For a similar offence V. Hewetson ] was fined £2 and 15s costs. A. McLajjgan had permitted one cow to stray on to the County Road at Tokomaru, and was fined 5s and 15s costs, ' ' A cow and calf belonging to L. Peach was found wandering along the Main Road at Tokomaru, and the owner has to pay a fine of 5s with costs 15s. H. Midgeley a cow to wander on the Main Road at Tokomaru, and Avas fined £3 and 15s costs. For a similar offence in connection with five cows on the same road he was convicted and ordered to pay 7s costs. A further charge, of allowing 13 cows to wander incurred a conviction and court costs of 7s.
