METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.
ADVERSARY AND PRIZEGIVING
1 The above was celebrated on Tuesday evening in the Parish Hall in the presence of a large attendance of Srents and friends. Proceedings i commenced with a tea for the scholI ars which was done full justice to, the' concert and prize-giving following a most enjoyable time being spent by all. The items were well re-, ceived and there was plenty of evi- | dence that there are talented scholars in thei Sunday school. Rev. Feryman, as chairman, helped oonsidaraMy to- \ wards the .success of the evening, ) with humorous anecdotes, etc. The following contributed items:—Mrs Riches, solo; Annie Roberts, • recitation; Joyce Ingley, recitation; Cliff and Owen Watkins, vocal duet; Olga Buclvinan, recitation; Miss Chalk (Foxton) solo; Dulcie Ingley, recitation; Mr Bishop, solo; Lillian Buckman, recitation; Doris Tremewan, recitation; Margaret and Annie Roberts;, Japanese song and dance; Mr Howard Andrew, monologue; Miss Aetridge (Levin) recitation; Owen Watkins, solo; Margaret and Ellen Roberts, duet; Miss Ei. ,Swindlehurst, recitation. At the conclusion of the concert Rev. Peryman gave a, short address, after which he called on the late superintendent, Mr Roberts, to present the prizes. ' The following were the successful scholars for the past year:— Senior Girls.—Vera Quarrie 1, Mona Ingley 2, Ellen Roberts 3, Lyla Tremewan 4. Intermediate Girls.—Margaret Roberts 1. Margaret Swindlehurst 2, Kate Hiill 3 Lillian Buckman 4. Junior Girl.—Annie Robert 1, Joyce Ingley 2, Dulcie Ingley 3, Olga Buckman 4, Myra McEwen 5. Senior Boys—James Ewart, John Ewart, lan iMcLachlan equal 1, Cyril Tremewan, Ray Watkins equal 2. junior Boys.—Willie Hill 1, Charlie Young 2. ■ Infants.—Class I: John Riches, Joan Johnson equal 1, Betty Johnson, Olive Rdberts, Eric Hook, Fred Tremewan, Mavis Hansman, Douglas Bishop, George Sinclair, John Sinclair, Jean Stock, Betty Stock, Spencer Tremewan. .
Class 2.—Joyce Quarrie and Norman Riches equal 1, Agnes Hansman and Trevor Ingley equal 2, Doris Tremewan Alec Buckman, Kate McEwen, Edna Hill, Jean Hill, Ronald Bdshop, Graham McLachlan equal 3. Church' Attendance.— Margaret Roberts, Annie Roberts and Margaret Swindlehurst equal 1, Joyce Ingley 2, Vera Quarrie, Joyce Quarrie and Dulcie Ingley equal 3, Joan Johnson and Kate Hill equal 4, Mona Ingley and Olive Roberts equal 5. Special Prize by Miss S. Quarrie: Jiiinioy' Girls, golden text, Dulcie Ing- , ley. ; Mr E. Barber, the'secretary, reported that a favourable year had been experienced, tooth in attendance and finance. He submitted the balance sheet which showed that the expenses had been £ls 13s 4d, collections £l9 Gs SJ, leaving a credit balance of £4 7s ljd.
