HOROWHENUA BOXING ASSOCIATION.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOURNEY. INTERESTING BOUTS SCHEDULED. A meeting of the committee of the .above Association was held at Mr Bould's room, Levin, ion Monday night. The Secretary reported thai the Palmerston North Association has accepted the amplication for registration with that Association. x Letters were read from various Associations wishing the Association every success, Palmerston and Wanganui being particularly, generous with their offers of assistance, Palmerston offering 10 lend their ringside gear | free of charge, which offer 1 the Committee accepted with sincere thanks. | It was decided to hold an amateur tournament on May 26 at the De Luxe Theatre, Levin. The Secretary reported that satisfactory and generous replies were re- ! ceived from various Associations and l gymnasium instructors written to for j names of good boys for the tourna- [ ment and the names were read and 1 approved. The Match Committee reported that ,they had matched the following for four two<-minute rounds each: Bantam weight.—l'app (Levin) v. Hoskins (Wanganui). Feather weight,—Fromont (Wanganui) v. Potbury (Palmerston North). Light weight.—Downes (Palmerston. North) v. Forward (Wanganui). Light weight.—Herd (Wanganui) v. Robertson (Palmerston North). Middle weight.—Terry (Levin) v. Napier (Wellington). Welter weight.—O'Brien (Palmerston North) v. O.'Keefe (Manawatu). The star fight will be a six-round contest between Em Morgan (amateur light weight champion, of New Zealand) and W. Gray (light weight champion of Wanganui). A-subsidi-ary contest will be between Jim Evans (bantam champion of Horowhenua) and S. Martin (champion of Wellington). Arrangements are, well advanced for the tournament on May 26.
