SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.

The first monthly meeting ol the new school committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs H. L. Tippler (chairman), Lankshear, Brown, Bowler, Butt, Watkins, Cronquest, Blackwood and Roberts (secretary). Miss Williams and Mins White waited on the meeting re the proposed school uniform. They were accompanied by one ol the school girls, Sybil Roach, who was dressed in the proposed uniform. The dress was admired .by the committee and after discussion it was decided to ask Mrs Roach to allow the dress to be paraded at the theatre, in connection with Mr Andrew’s display of frocks on Monday night and that it also ho exhibited in a sliop window. Also that further suggestions in respect, to the dress be asked for from parents, which can be sent to the secretary (Mr Roberts). Failing receiving Mis Roach’s permission, ’Mr Andrews be asked to make up the colours for exhibition. V

It .was resolved llmt the Education Board be asked for an approximate cost of a septic tank. It was decided to supply hot drink.; to the children as soon as convenient. Messrs Just and Shailer, nurserymen, Palmerston North, to be written to asking them to donate trees ami shrubs far Arbor Day planting. Mr Blackwood promised to supply native shrubs. It was decided to take out an insurance policy covering school pictures, books in library, piano, shield, The visiting committee appointed for this month is Messrs Tippler ami Blackwood. A vote of thanks was accorded Mi Blackwood for lighting *up the grounds on the occasion of tlie householders’'meeting. Mr Roberts, in moving the vote expressed his appreciation of the splendid display, which lie said, permitted those householders who attended the meeting h see the improvements that, had beer: carried out in the school grounds. SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS. MANGAHAO SCHOOL. At a meeting of householders, the following school committee avo,s elected:—Messrs W. A. Hutton (chairman), B. J. White (secretary), g. r. u negan, R. C.
