WEEK-END FIRES.

PICTURE THEATRE BURNT. GISBORNE, May 3. Aii outbreak of fire occurred in the picture show at Te Karaka on Saturday night shortly after the interval. Tlie Hall in which the pictures arc shown was completely destroyed. A worn-out, piece of film caught in the gate of the machine, and when Mr Powell, the operator, went to extinguish ffiie outbreak another film caught alight, the fire thereafter spreading rapidly. Mr Powell was slightly burnt about the head and hands.
