SHANNON FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL! MEETING. The annual meeting of the above Uw was held in Jhe Council Chambers on Thursday evening, there being a splendid attendance of members and supporters. The president, Mr W. Murdoch, presided. ANNUAL REPORT. . •The annual report was as follows: The 1925 season was opened toy the Club putting four teams in the competitions. The fourth grade team were successful in winning the cup, the other grades, though not winning, playing well. The results of the competitions were as follow:—Seniors: Played 11 games, won 5, lost 4, drawn 2; poinds for 61, against 45; Juniors: played 10, won 5, lost 3, drawn 2, point© ior 6-4, against 43; Thirds: played 9, won 7, lost 2, points for 79, against 32; Fourths: Played 12, won 9, lost 2, draw 1," points for 129, against 44, Teams were entered for the Senior and Junior knock out cups. The seniors lost their first match and the juniors won the north end and met Weraroa in the final at Otaki and" alter a great game which lasted' three hours; the game ended with no score. The following week. Weraroa won by 6 to 4. This game is believed to be the longest on irecord in the Dominion. Three teams took part in the sevenaside tournament at Palmerston N., all of whom put up good games. The thanks of the Club are due to all those who assisted with donations and in other ways. During the past season the committee worked well together and on no occasion were they short of a. quorum. Special thanks are due to Mr Bartholomew, the treasurer, for his efforts on behalf of the , Qufo, also to Mr Rotoertshaw, who ' watched over the Club's interests on the Union, and to Mr Johansen, who kindly donated, a. football to die. club. A.number of danceg were held and \ at the close of the season a hall, the , latter showing a slight loss financial- j ly, hut socially was a great success. Mr J. Gray, coach to the fourth team, deserves special praise for the manner in which he carried Out. his duties and it was gratifying to alt to see Mr Gray's-'efforts rewarded by the team winning the cup. Congratulations are offered to the following players who gained ' .representative j honours:—Messrs Lenihan,' R. Moyni- ' ban, Williams, Ransfield and C. Hunt, ' all of whom played well and upheld the honour of the Club. A game was played with a team from Palmerston North-under the electric light, but unfortunately bad weather spoiled it. The visitors won. ..Now that a good track is available on the Domain and the ground well lighted it is hoped teams will, take advantage of these conveniences and train more fhi© season than they have done in the past. A pleasant feature of the season was the absence of rough play. Altogether'' the committee considers the past season very satisfactory and looke forward for even better results during the coming season. The* cash nett balance in the Bank is £8 7s 4d, but as the expenses have been heavy, this must he considered satisfactory. •The balance sheet was then read after which they were both adopted.

COR'R'ESiPOfNDENCE. A letter was received from the Combined Sports Carnival Committee 'at Levin, stating the .Horowhenua Rugby Union had given .their sanction itc* the the Committee for the holding of a seven-aside tournament for Junior and third grade teams in the Horowhenua and Manawatu Unions,. for whicli entries will close on March 31st.—Left to the incoming Management Committee to* deal with. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The election of officers was as follows:—Patron, Mr W. Murdoch; president, Mr Brann; viceipresidents, Dr. Macke'reth, Messrs Babibington (Levin), Lp Fev,re (Otaki), Kirkland (Foxton), Jas Curran, H. Hook, W. H. Gunning, E Warrington, T. King, W. Territl, H. Andrew, E. Butt, J. Curran, Jhing Lee, J. Hennessey, A. Hunt, W. Moynihan C, C. Franks, J. Murray, B. Wilkinson, A. Hyde, A. Richards, E. Dickhoff, Blackwood and T. Dalzell; management committee, Messrs Johansen, McLaggan, Dalzell, Richards, Birchall, j Grav and R. Sands; delegates to Union,"' Messrs W. Moyninan and Brann (seniors), Messrs T. Dalzell and ■ Birchall (Juniors): vice-president to ; the Union, Mr W,. Moynihan; selectors, Messrs R. Sands and Johansen (seniors), Messrs R. Terry .and A. Johnson (juniors),, thirds loft to man-1 at'ement committee; fourths, Mr J. Gray; auditor, Mr Brann; secretary, Mr T. Kohika; treasurer, Mr Jas. Curran. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the retiring secretary, Mr Birchall who during his term of office has given a lot of time and work in the interests of the Cluib and had proved himself to be a. real enthusiast in football matters. Several members expressed their regret at his retirement from that office. RETIRING PRESIDENT. Mr W Moyniherfi, in moving that tup services of .floe Club's retiring pLm.nt(MrW.Murdoch>b«^ced on record said that during the lath's term of Mayor he the Club in many ways. Mr Birchall seconded the motion, which; was unanimously carried. . ,„_.„ Mr Murdoch, in returning thanks said he had always taken an "IS in the youth of Shannon and he always liked to see them follow the game of Rugby as if was a game that, taught a youth to be aible to take ms •miel and at the same time helped to make men of them. Anything he had done for the Club had b#en a pleasure He hoped that this season Shannon would win the Shield/and if they were successful he would come to Shannon and help them o£cibrate the occasion. In'conclusion-he said he

had decided to give a medal to the Club to be awarded to the best player in the seniors. (Applause). GENERAL. On the motion of Mr B'irohall it was decided that a letter expressing the Club's thanks and appreciation for his services as representative on the Union be forwarded to Mr R. Rrjbextshaw, who, lie said, during his residence in Shannon had been a live wire of the Club. It was also resolved that a letter of condolence in Ms sad bereavement be sent. It was resolved that it be a; remit that delegates to the Union be empowered to arrange at the beginning of the season the number of rounds to be played in the various competitions. Mr R. Terry complained of the short notice given by the Union for the playing of matches. Mr Birchall-said he had written to the Union o"n this matter.'Hut had received no satisfaction. • A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr J. Gray for the able manner in which he had man-aged the fourth grade team. As there was dissatisfaction expressed over the distribution of jerseys, etc., last season, it was resolved on the motion of Mr W. Moynihan that the captain of each team be handed two jerseys, two. pairs of pants and a football 'and thai, each captain be made responsible for them, A motion was. carried; that the delegates to the Union use ©very effort to secure a representative match to be played at Shannon, which members contended was long overdue.
