SHANNON AMATEUR ATHLETIC AND CYCLING SPORTS.
Saturday next. A meeting of the committee was held on Saturday evening to tether the arrangements for the sports to be ■held in the Domain on Saturday next. It was reported the completion of the new cycle track was well in hand and everything pointed to it being a big acquisition to the Club. A large number of entries have been received for the meeting, many coming from as far afield as Well'igton.; As some of the events have received over 20 entries, these races will be run in heats. Since the last sports meeting was held the ground hag undergone considerable improvement, it now! being ideal as a sports and picnic ground. The new cinder track just put down was. completed over the week end, and is a credit to the enthusiasts who did the manual work gratis. The sports will commence at 11.30 a.m. with the children's events and given fine weather there is every reason to anticipate the Club having a very successful meeting. The entries are excellent and it only remains for the public to give their support. It will be interesting to the heads of family to know that hot water; will, be provided free. The catering will .be in charge of the Farmers' Baby Committee and as the farmers' ''wives are well-known for the excellence of their cooking, the public can be assured of being well looked after in this respect.
