BABY CARNIVAL.
During the week the committees representing the Farmers' and Town I Babies have been busy raising funds for their .respective candidates iby way of dances, parties and a garden party. On Tuesday evening the Farmers ■held .a most successful dance in the 'Parish Hall, iThe isjaume (afternoon Mesdames Laurvig and Bovis held a garden party at Mrs Bovus's residence on *behalf of the Town Baby, which was well attended, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent in competitions, games* etc. At Mrs Granqueist's' (residence on Wednesday evening Mesdames Cronquesit and Clifford Jones gave -a.party to a number of young folk, on behalf of the Town Baby. On Saturday, March 20th, a shop day will be held by the Town B'ahy Committee, for which donations of any kind will be thankfully received by the Committee. Any person who desires to forward goods for .the stall is invited to communicate with Mrs T. C. Thwaites, the committee's secretary. •The Mangahao Baiby Committee held a successful entertainment at the top camp on Tuesday evening and upwards of 1000 votes were obtained. Arrangements have been made to hold a children's fancy dress ball ajt the camp to-morrow evening.
