Convicted Driver Sentenced JUDGE ERRS ON MERCY'S SIDE. NIAIPDER, March 1. Frederick Lavin, driver of the train which was derailed at Te Ante Hill on September 22, when tfour lives were lost, was sentenced this morning to two years' reformative detention by the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Skerrett. The Judge said he believed he was erring on the side of mercy.
