BOWLERS’ FIELD DAY.

MANAWATU AND SHANNON AT LEVIN. Shannon, in addition to its challen- . ging team for the Kinnetourgh Feathens, sent three other rinks to test the bowling strength of the Levin Club on Saturday, and to complete a fraternal gathering, three rinks arrived from the Manawatu Club, resulting in an afternoon of very interesting play. The challenge match between Levin and Shannon was .very even up to the 12th head, showing Levin (14) a point ahead of Shannon (13). The home team won the next three beads, bringing- the score up to 20. At the 19th head Shannon were lying three, ' but Clements drove, carrying the kitty to within a foot of the ditch, leaving Leivin three up. Spencer then drew the shot with his first ball, but Suhan played a firm shot which carried the kitty into the ditch, making Levin 2 up, Spencer’s second, bail being also firm but a foot short. Levin, who remain holders of the Feathers, won from their visitors by a, margin -of 9 to spare,. the final scores being Levin, 26, Shannon 17. Of the remaining six games played, shannon won two, Manawatu one and Levin three. In face of repeated efforts of outside clubs to wrest the Feathers from Levin, the latter still'retain the coveted trophy. A match between the Island Bay or Khandallah Clubs and Levin should be full of interest and their visit to the local green is being looked forward to by Levin bowlers.
