monthly' meeting. I The aibove meeting was held in the < schoolroom on Thursday evening. | Present: Messrs. R. L. Tippler (chairi man), Brown, Burns, Brann, Blackwood, Roberts, Phillips, . Watkins (secretary), and Mr White (headmaster). \ CORRESPONDENCE, From secretary, Wellington Education Board, askk'g for What purpose it is. proposed to instal an electric water heater. Also the Board regretled that subsidy cannot now be approved on account of cricket nets, but uiey will approve of a subsidy of £1 towards, the cost of a first aid outfit. From the secretary of the Board stating that during the present season the Board hopes to undertake the top dressing of asphalt areas at a number of schools and it lias included in the schedule approximately 2700 square yards for the Shannon School. ' An apology -for absence owing to unforeseen circunistanes was. received from Mr Lanksbear. From the secretary of the Levin Returned Soldiers' Association, stating that body was presenting to the school a framed copy of "The Lauding at Anzac" in recognition of the services which the members of the school (past and present) have rendered the Association in the sale of' "Poppies" on 'c.r .before Anzac Day eafii year. The Associaltion wished to. know when the presentation be made and asked that the picture ]>e hung in a ptimminent position in the school so that the pupils may ever he reminded of the lesson of self sacrifice and devotion to duty of their illustrious forbears.—The Association were accorded a vote of thanks. The Giirnmittee considered it would he appropriate if the picture was presented on Anzac Day if 'this would be a suitable occasion for the donors. V Mr E. T. Mot'Ay, solicitor,; on behalf of'Mrs Ret;or, sulbmitted to the Committee three plans of sections adjoining the School, one of which the Committee are desirous, of purchasing to allow the palying area at the school to be increased.—-After consideration the Committee to recommend to the Board the purchase of the section on plan K which consists of 1 acre- l.:ir the si:im of £2oo. It was also decided to enquire what concession the Board will make towards a subsidy.

Messrs Tippler and Blackwood reported that two tenders had been re- ■ reived for asphoiting the playing urea and re-dressing and repairing that portion already asphalted, and neiither had been accepted.-The Committee resolved U write to the Board io ascertain if. the latter body Will top-dress the drill: area an extra 536 square yards, Av'hen they asphalt the portion they have promised to do during the. holidays. Messrs Burns and Brann were,appointed a visiting committee tar the month of February.
