FORTY FISHER MEN-ONE MINNOW.
SAD STORY OF AN ANGLING CONTEST. LONDON, Sept. 18. This is the story of forty large fishermen, and one small fish.' The forty large fishermen assembled at a large pool near here for their annual angling contest.. They produced the usual large stocks of flies and mysterious large jars 'which, may have contained baitr-or may not. k Chances, were discussed with the usual optimism of the fisherman. Several of the forty were noticed practising arm, stretching in "preparation for telling their friends. Then the forty large fishermen sat down and for two hours fished steadily. Time was called; the judges stepped* forward with scales geared up to the weight of the largest fish ever. Enter the small fish. It was 'brought to scale by one George Hovel. It was a minnow 1J inches long. „.- But it was -awarded first "prize and a special prize for the heaviest fish caught—because there were no others. The forty large fishermen are now looking for two small boys who, on ihe previous.' day.ywith two bits of string and two bent pins, caught (it was asserted) thirty-four, large fish.
