That the report of the Meat Commission was merely white-washing from start to finish, and that the value of the report has been entirely lost was the opinion expressed by Mr W. D. Lysnar, M.P., to a Herald reporter at Gisborne on Saturday. ‘‘Speaking in a general way,” said Mr Lysnar, “I am satisfied that my protest to the Attorney-General before the Commission commenced regarding the personnel of the Commission was fully justified. The report is simply white-washing from start to finish, and the value of it is, in my opinion, entirely lost when the Commission says: ‘We express no opinion as to whether or not Vesteys should, or should not, be prohibited from, owning any freezing works in New Zealand.’ In making that statement the Commission refuses to express an opinion on the basis orf the whole complaint, because until the the Commission decided that cpiestion they were powerless to say whether the Minister did or did not act in any way contrary to the public interest or his duty as a Minister of the Crown.”
