Good prices ! ruled in the sheep section at the saleyards yesterday, i to 6-tooth ewes in lamb to Romney rams fetching up to 475, The demand for pigs was again fairly brisk, but without causing any unusual bidding. The dairy stock was in good demand, and with very few exceptions, were practically all sold. Fat ewes made up to £2. apiece, prime wethers, £2 15s, while fair mixed hoggets brought up to 33s 2d. Good porkers realised up to £3 6s — a good price for this type of pig. Weaners brought 23s to 26s 6d, and light- porkers were knocked down at prices ranging from £2 5s to £2 10s. Small stores 28s, medium ditto 355, and large 455. Baconers were sold at £3 15s. Forward cows went at £4 7s 6d, stores made from 35s to £3 ss. In-call heifers brought prices from £2 10s to £4 ss. Buyers paid from 30s to 45s for 12-months old bulls, and heifers of a similar age were sold for 36s to £2 10s. Vealers netted 31s to £3. Weaner heifers made £1 apiece, while springing heifers went for £25 to £3 12s 6d. The attendance at the sale was very good and the quality of beast offered, more especially in the sheep section, was of a high order.
