RUGBY MANAGEMENT.
HOBOWHENUA COMMITTEE MEET.
Those present at last night’s meeting ol' the Horowhenua Rugby Union’s management committee, were Messrs Carmichael (secretary), Sloan, Robinson, Hutchens, Austin, McMillan, Anderson, luimner (chairman) and Hannan.
Included in the correspondence brought up for discussion were the following matters:— The Headmaster of the Otaki State School wrote challenging Foxton for the Austin Challenge Banner, and also thanking the Union for the football received. —The match is to- be played at Foxton on Saturday.
Trip expenses for the rep. players to Palmerston North, amounted to £S 7s 2d—“a very cheap trip,” commented the secretary. Mr Rimmer said the arrangements were entirely satisfactory and the manager (Mr Robinson, deserved every commendation/for the way he had managed the players. (Applause). While lie thanked the committee for their sentiments, Mr Robinson said that, where possible, players should, be sent by cars in-, stead of by train to enable them to get back after the match and to get something to eat before they departed for home. “We should consider the players a little more—even if it costs the Union an extra pound pi so to do it,” he remarked. Mr Robinson drew special attention to the line hospitality which the Manawatu Union had extended to the Horowhenua plavers; The hot food and drink sup plied by them had been most grate fully received. A transfer from the Weraroa Club to the Wanderers Club, subject to the sanction of the former, was asked for by P. McGill. Hector McDonald also applied for a transfer from the County Club to the Levin Wanderers. The Weraroa Juniors applied for the transfer of three Hui Mai junior players, namely, K. Perry, J. Keogh and Robinson,, to the Weraroa Club.—' It was decided that- no further transfers would be granted this season, and the above applications were there-
fore refused. Permission was given to the Hui Mai Seniors to play a friendly game with Feilding, at Feilding, on Sat-
urday. Mr Hutchens moved that as a rep.. North and South match had been played last year, a similar game should also be played this year.—Carried. The secretary (Mr Carmichaplj suggested that all club secretaries shouldbe given a pass which would give them access to all grounds, within the union. These men, he said, did a tremendous amount of work gratis for their clubs.—Carried. • j The attention of gatekeepers is to be drawn to the necessity for every spectator receiving a ticket before being allowed on the ground.
