The Palmerston Times football scribe “Polity” comments as follows on the'team:—
Most people who saw Saturday’s game wili be surprised at the omision of Williams, who should certainly have been included, on form, before Winiata or Wilson. Had he been prelerred to the latter no doubt Brophy v. ou'd have gone back to centre. While Ransfield proved a solid tackier it is doubtful if he did any Defter than Law, Meta Johnston, perhaps, was slightly superior to either The backs do not look at all impressive on paper, but Manawatu’s pool showing no doubt made the selectors' task more difficult. Manawatu, in fact, may be considered fortunate in gaining seven places as Mr Wrigley ia certainly not a “proportional representation artist.” Referee. The names of Messrs E. Bevan (Levin) and H. Hands (Palmerston North) will be submitted -to Southland to make a choice of referee for the nlatchi Curtain-raiser. Bush will neet Manawatu juniors as a curtain-raiser to the Southland match.
