NUN TO MARRY.
DISPENSATION GRANTED. The Pope has granted a special dispensation liberating a nun to marry a man whom she has loved since she entered a religious order 13 years ago. The heroine of the romantic story i 3 Miss! Maria Hirst, a member of a socially prominent Philadelphia family, who, when about to make her debut, unaccountably altered her plans and entered the Order of the Sacred Heart. She recently confessed to her M.'other Superior that she was in love, and had been so for 13 years. Members of her family, on learning of the confession, and on discovering that the man in the case still loved her, communicated with Archbishop Curley, of Baltimore. The Archbishop, in turn communicated with the Vatican, and the Pope has granted a special dispensation to permit the woman to become again Miss Hirst.
Her engagement to Mr. Webb Levering, the faithful lover, is now announced (says the London “Evening Standard”), and the wedding will take place shortly.
