SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.

Shannon was very prominent at the above contest in Palmerston N., and although beaten jn all grades, the seniors must feel gratified at the results of their matches, winning three out ol four games. The seniors were very popular with the crowd, and regret' was expressed that they did not lift the cap. The selectors picked a fine team and are tioi he congratulated on their choice; every man did well and could not have been improved upon. Moynihan and Dalzeil both played their Lest games of the season and got plenty of ball : from the scrums. Lenihan ;uid Wnliains played well together, and were I always prominent. Marsh played a fine game at three-quarter, and the try lie got was a good piece of work. Ransfleld proved himself to be a very dangerous man and scored three tries. In my previous notes I stated that he should he given the ball more and hope this will be done when play ing against Levin. Hunt, last but not least, played a champion game. His five goals was a feature of the matches, and much impressed the public. He must be considered when the reps, are picked. The secretary of the Shannon Football Club gives the results ol teams in the competitions as follow: SENIOR.

MATCH WITH MANAWATU.

The Manawatu Union has decided that Horowhenua be invited to play Manawatu on Saturday, August 15, with a view to facilitating the selection of the Wellington-Horowhenua-Manawatu match v. New South Wales, on Saturday, August 22, at Palmerston North. It was pointed out that a Wellington selector would no doubt be present for the purpose of watching the former trial. This involved turning down the offer of a game from Wairoa on August 15.
