• $ SHANNON YOUTHS BEFORE COURT Two youths, aged l'J and 20, whose names weie ordered to he suppressed, appealed before Mr J. L. Stout, 0.. u, at Palmerston, charged with me then at Shannon on May 25’ and :-6 uf an acetylene lamp, one gallon of mu.or oil and two cases of benzine, of a total value of £3 is 6d. Mr Cooper, wjio appeared for the two accused, asked that they be granted probation on account of their youtn. Both had lost their positions prim to the thel't and had started oft on a motor cycle. Running short of benzine and oil, they had stolen supplies at Shannon. Both had been in custody for a few days, and counsel asked that their names be suppressed. Detective Holmes stated that both youths came of respectable families. Nothing was. previously Known against them. \ The Magistrate said that he would admit the accused to probation for a term ol 12 months, conditional on 1 Loir naming good the value of the benzine mid oil within six months. An order would he made for the suppi ession cf their names.
