Accordingly Mr G. \\ aikui-: inove.d and Mr Burns seconded: ••That a petition be circulated among householders for. their signatures i'cquesiing the Department to erect a new residence/' It was pointed out thai the Department were prepared to spend 'a considerable sum in renovating, while very little more would he required to erect a new building. The motion was carried. A letter was received from Mr Thomas, Stationmaster, drawing the Com-, inn tee's attention to the danger to children at the railway crossing, somt. of whom are in the habit of crossing the line when trains are ap-proaching.—-The headmaster was asked to warn the children of the danger. Replying to the committee's request to extend the date originally arranged for the re-examination of Standard VI pupils, the secretary of the Board slated that it would not be in the in-, teres.ts of the children-to accede to the icijuest. GENERAL. Vk W. Phillips suggested planting some shrubs on the north-east audi eastern boundary on Arbor Day, the, suit 1 Forest Department offering to j provide up to 200 trees. It was finally decided to enquire'as to cost, j The chairman, secretary and Mr j White were appointed to go into the matter and call a special meeting to ■ report. • ; Mr White made a few suggestions regarding the tennis courts by which with some additions it. could be utilised for a double purpose. Mr Burns brought forward, the ijiustion of shelter sheds at Kingston and Kara road, and alter discussion it \va,s decided, to write the Board pointing out the advisability of same and requesting that the sheds be erected. .. . . Mr-s Thompson was re-appointecl care taker for the ensuing year. Aprlication is to be made to the Board for dustbins and a destructor tor the school. ! The visiting committee for. the enMiir'o month will be Messrs Tippler and'Blackwood. . ' Messrs Tippler. Blackwood- and Watkfns were unpointed to go into the finances of Hie School. :
