GOLF NOTES.
Till! present season's golf is nowwell started and all enthusiastic play ers are putting in a, good deal ol practice, which is the only way to attain efficiency in the game. 'lhe monthly medal matches were won by Miss V. Sinclair and Mr A. Saxon, respectively', both players returning good eiirds. Tlie greens are gradually improving, aud under the care ul Mr Hayes will very soon be in excellent condition. It is gratifying to see the number of young people who have joined the club' this season, as it is to these players w r e shall, look for the champions of the future. A lew new local rules have been added. It is now 7 permissable to pul.l up any thistles on the course; to lift a ball out of tufts of grass, and aw 7 ay from any trees or timber that may be termed a “stymie,” but only so far as to allow a clear passage lor a stroke. For example, a ball landing in the bush cannot be lifted out of the bush, but could be moved the necessary few 7 feet to allow of a clear passage. Before lifting a ball a player should consult his partner.
