MANGAORE NOTES.

(From, our own Correspondent.] Mrs Hughs, who lias been staying with Mr and Mrs T. A. Johnston, returned to Wellington last week. Mr T. Cooper, tornierly overseer at Mangaiiao, and latterly in charge ,oi tile Foxton. Bridge repairs and puni construction, has received notice of iiis transfer, to Lake 'Coleridge. During the week-end, Messrs Bridgman, Fenton and McLeay of the Publicity Department, Wellington, visited the various w.orks. They secured quite a number ol turnings, including uie interior of the Power Station, and in due course will be screened overseas for publicity purposes. Mr and Mrs G. W. .Nelson, left for Arapuni this week. Miss Hinemoa Boss who has been holidaying in Wellington] returned this week. Quite a cold snap was experienced in the early part of the week and preparations are now being made for waiter warmth. Mr H. S. Griffiths, foreman carpenter of the Mangaiiao dam construction, has received notice of his transfer to Paeroa. . . Mr Hutton, of Grey town, lias joined the Engineering staff (here, and has been appointed engineer at Mangahao. _ ... On Wednesday afternoon, the PAV D. staff took the opportunity of saying go.6d-bye to Mr G. W. Nelson, who is on transfer to Arapuni. Mr T. A. Johnston, in making a presentation, spoke of tile splendid work Mr Nelson had accomplished during his four and' a-half years’ service with the -Department, of the associations with the Engineering branch, and the good fellowship he had created with all, a.nd wished him success m his new fields. Mr A. J. Ridler spoke on behalf of the clerical staff, and Mr J. W. Swaney for the Power Station staff. Mr Nelson, suitably replied thanking the staff for’their kind thoughts and wishes for himself and Mrs Nelson.
