The report to ne saonimed at uie annual meeting oi tne suauuou football Club, to be held, on Saiuruay.. night, says play shows a great improvement in all grades. Although not successful hi gaining the cmtuipionship, the seniors gave a" good display and were ru»nners-up for uie Nash Cup, beating Levin wanueiers for th© first time, after a great game, by 11 to 8. The Juniors had a lot of players, injured, but managed to get into the final, Manakau eventually winning 9 to 0. The Juniors trained well and are to be congratulated on their performances. They played T<£ games, won 11, lost one; points for 134, against 27. The thirds record' is as follows: Played. 9, won 5, lost 3, drew 1, points for 22, against 30. Hearty congratulations are extended to the following players who gained representative honours: R. Moynihan, A. Lenihan, P. Koro, T. McDonald. E. Williams was also selected. The only juniors selected for rep. honours were C. Hunt and W. Gray, but the latter 'was mot available. The following gentlemen have earned our gratitude Tor donations towards our funds; Messrs J. Linklater, M.P., W. J. Moynihan; G. Murphy, H. Hardie, D. McLaggan, Jhing Lee„ Ghong Pok, H. Andrew, W. H, Gunning, W. Quarrie, M. Curran, C. Hardie, H. Hook, J. Bebbington (Levin), J. Nash, T. Dal-' zell, G. Warrington, C. Speirs, C. Logan, A. Galloway, T. Jamieson. Mr D. C. Johanson also donated a football. A letter of appreciation was sent to Mr G. Murphy wfho was hon. auditor to the club. We wish to thank Messrs Wilkinson and Hyde for the use of the Druids' Hall for training purposes. ( The bank balance show the assets to be £l3.
A few days ago a sweet-smell"-.-ig white dowering shrub growing in a Christchurch garden attracted swarms ot Red Admiral Uutterflies. There was quite a brilliant crowd of them, and a number of passersby stopped to watch the butterflies darting and chasing one another in the sunlight'. Where they all came from it is difficult to say (says the Sun), ahd the only explanation for their numbers is the presence of the shrub, as the Red Admiral usually flies round alone.
