Air W. McKenzie wrote enquiring whether, now that Uie water supply is available, it was available to the lawns ouitside the Borough and "at what cost.—To be informed that the Council are now willing to sell water and that he be forwarded the coudinons for procuring same. The Horowhenua Power Board wrote agreeing to transfer 't/he light at the corner of Stout and Vogel Street to the other side of tlie street, Messrs limes and Oakley, solicitors on behalf of a client, wrote asking lor the cancellation of the 10 per cent penalty on the rates of Uieir client owing to the fact that she has been away on account of ill health and had not paid the rates or instructed them to dp so.—lt was resolved to inform them that the Council had no power to remit the 10 per cent, charged.
A revised draft of the proposed motor lorry regulations was received from the Public Health Department. —Referred to a committee consisting of the Mayor and Crs. Gunning and Hyde to deal with, with power to act. OVERSEER'S REPORT. The Overseer reported as follows: We have carted 61 yards of metal on to the Levin road, Main North road, and Sheehan Street. Have also cleaned drains in Sheehan Street and on Foxton road. The grass has also been cleaned off the footpaths in Vance and Stout streets. A load of boulders have Leen carted to the Domain. We have also filled in 1-28 chains of trenchi s and have completed this work to Vimce Street irom Newtown.
. GENERAL. Cr. Hyde said he had received a complaint that although all the rest of the town had been provided with street lights, J jbiisoh street, which was an extension of Bryce Street, has been missed. —Jt was resolved that when any alte.ation in the street lights is being made, the" question of one for this str"et will'be gone into. Cr. Murray drew attention to the fact that the Ra ; lway Department had not yet installed'a'light at the entrance to the railway station. —It was decided that a letter he forwarded to the member foi- the district asking him to bring the matter under the notice of the Minister of Railways pointing out the- urgency for the lighting of the railway station. Mrs Curran, who had drawn the attention of one of the Councillors to the bad state 01' Sheehan Street near her residence, which was largely due to the banking scheme recently carried out, is to be informed that attention will be given to this piece of road as early as possible. Cr. Beard enquired if it was right that the water pipes at Newtown had been laid in the water tables. He was informed t'tey had been laid under the water tables. The accounts were then passed for j payment.
