(From, our own Correspondent.) Monday evening at the staff "Bach." was Ladies' Night, a return musical evening being given tQ members, of the Bach. The evening took the form of dancing, musical items, and competitions. Baillie (highest scorer and all-round player), A. J. Ridler (most improved player), and A. R.. Blackwood (winner of a pair of spectacles). In the wordbuilding competition the' gentleman's prize was shared by Messrs C Broad and R. Baiilie, the ladies' prize ibeing won iby Miss Molly Curran (of Shannon). Large entries were received for the Stump Speech competition by gentlemen, and after a close contest, the winners were sorted out in Mr C. Broad (first prize), and Mr I. R. Robinson (second). Musical items 'were rendered by Messrs. K. S. Henry (song), E. James (song), G. Broad (monologue), J. GagJiardi (recitation), Mrs A. J. Ridler (song), Mrs and Miss (Blackwood (duet). Dancing was kept up to the early hours of tlhe morning, the music being supplied by Miss H. Ross, Messrs H Hawken, R, Moody and L. Wilson. Mr A. R. Blackwood made a capalble M.C., and through his untiring efforts the evening was the most successful enjoyed iby members of the Staff Bach at Mangaore.
Mr Henry, who spoke on behalf of the (bach, thanked the ladies' for tlhe treat they had put on that evening, and hoped it would be a lead to many more, as camp life monotony was by no means' a pleasant one, the social side toeing more preferable. Mr Blackwood responded on behalf of the ladies, and an enjoyable evening was. brought to a conclusion by the rendering ojf. "Auld Lang Syne."
The newlynformfid P.W.D. Cricket Club sent a team into Shannon and, playing the local team in a friendly game, won by 7 runs. P.W.D. put up a very creditable performance, considering that some members had not wielded the willow for a very long time. .P.W.D. contributed 45 and 28 respectively while Shannon responded With 28 and 36. P.W.D.'s responsible trundlers were Swaney and Baillie. •
Much comment was passed on trie condition of the playing area, and to give the Shannon Club fair consideration as a sports body, it is. about time that some live wires got together and assisted tihat •club to obtain Ibetter playing grounds. The present one is ridiculous, not only to the players but to the public in general. The P.W.D. Club's, next venture is Ayith a Levin team at an early date.
