Sloan batted well for 24 which included one six, but apart from Condor who scored 13, none oi tiie others reached double figures and the innings closed for 99. Field finished with tae good average of 6 wickets for 33, and if the fiejamg liad been keener his average Would liave been much better.
Bennett and, Sharp opened lor Levin to the odwling of O’Connor and Bull, Sharp being run out without having soared. Walker and Bennett took the score to 39 before Walker was caught by Sloan off Bull. He had scored Zl including one six. Bennett hatted very well for his score of 29. Six wickets were dbVyn f°r 7© at this stage and it looked like anybody’s game, when Tingey and Hopa came together and carried the' score, past Weraroa’s total, Hopa was content to play carefully, whilst Tingey did the scoring. Both played good cricket. The score was carried to 119 before the last wicket fell. Bull was howling very well and secured five wickets for 48 runs..
With an hour and a-half to play, Weraroa hatted again and declared with 5 wickets down for 80, leaving 35 minutes to play until 7 p.m. Levin were content to play carefully and played out for the loss <of two wickets.
