WATER SUPPLY SCHEME.
STATE UP FINANCE. At the Borough council meeting on Tuesday evening tne Town Clem reported mat uie amount of £10,126 16s oa had been spent on the water scheme to date. The Bank of New /.eaiand account shewed an qverurau oi £4126 16s od, the suhi of £6ood having been received from the state Advances Office. Negotiations with several money lending institutions had been made to raise the extra 10 per cent, and something definite sfiouid be arrived at in the course of a day or two. He said he was wanting for an estimate from the Engineer of the cost of the completion of the work, when he would then be able to state if the money raised will be sufficient to complete the work. -
