GENERAL. llhe Road Committee is to be. instructed to make arrangements to take over the carpenter’s shed at Mangaotre, which the Council have purchased. The action of an informal meeting of. the Council in making new. appointments for the position of nightsoil contractor and ranger were approved of by the full Council.

Cr. Hyde, in referring to the. plots in Plimmer Terrace, asked whether it was the intention Of the Counoil to allow the grass to go'to hay or whether they were going to be kept trimmed. He said the. Council should have purchased a mowing machine, instead of a lawn mower.—lt was decided to instruct the roadman to. attend to the plots regularly and keep the heige trimmed.

Laurvig for the purchase of section 4 in Vance, street.This was the only offer received for the section.

ROADMAN’S REPORT. The Borough roadman (Mr F. Haley) reported as follows; —W e (have carted m yards Of metal on to the following streets: Vogel, Ballance and Stafford Plimmer Terrace a)nd Levin road. The grass has been- cleaned off footpath, in Ballance Street. We have also levelled clay over pipe lme in Plimmer Terrace and Ballance -Street, and put in one day in Recreation ground carting earth for filling in the drains. The Council then went into committee to deal with matters in connection with the water supply scheme, etc.,
