THIS FREEDOM.
EMANCIPATION OF WOMEN. /' • LONDON, Dec. SI. •Mr Arnold Bennett, in an article in the Sunday Pictorial, says he is of the opinion that women of 1944 will be more normal than their forerun- , ners, owing to the development of electrical heating, lighting, and cooking, and simplification of other household tasks, which will give them increased freedom and enable them to/ see more ioif the world and increase their ideas. They will become more interesting to themselves and to men, and will be able greatly to ease the nervous \ strain which is especially evident among women running small holds.•Despite the.ir emancipation, however, they wiil still be the weaker sex, and will need man’s, protection and compassion.
