The prize-giving of the above Sunday School took place ‘.at the. childrens service on the afternoon day, the Mst inst. Sunday fechooi vorkTne clay school system taught the children some things which .wore of utmost importance m the framing , good citizenship, but unfortunately that system omitted the all foundation upon winch true wisdom were* built namely the religious aspect. -He asked them not to forget tliut their teachers willingly gave up a portion of their Sunday afternoons, lor the purpose of teaching them this neglected aspect because they realised h<sw important it was. He .trusted that in the coming year the. children would show their appreciaton of. their teacher’s sell-denying work -by giving attention to their lessons—'the. results of. which would -be shown at the next, prizegiving. He further want on. to explain the. system adopted for the pnzegivinjg, stating that the teacnrers and himself had deeded upon it after lull discussion at a meeting. The attendance prizes were awarded according to ffie number of scholars m ihe class—where there, were four 's.cjioiars or under one prize was awarded—eight or under two prizes-r----over eight three prizes. The progressprize was awarded, one. to each class rot- the ’scholar shewing the best promise of work lor the term he had been superintending the Sunday School. The examination" was has.ed upon the lessons given since he took over (he ’Sunday /school. The. results were he considered, .very satisfactory,’particularly as he understood *t was. the first examination Of its kmd that the scholars had ever had. The examination , marks, were then /read, there being only tliree failures, in the whole school. A special prize for the examination (donated by Messrs Bennett and Co.) was. awarded to Dallas Jones, who topped the list. PRIZE LIST— junior and senior.
