FOOD PRESERVATIVES

DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. A cable message from London contains the news that a deputation of merchants- and distributors dealing in foodstuffs imported from Australia and New Zealand decided to send a deputation to the Minister for Health in order to protest against the adoption of the committee’s report on food preservatives. It will be remembered, that the Health Minister’s departmental com. jnittee, condemned such food preservatives as formaldehyde, hydrofluvic acid, boron, etc,, which are commonly used in, butter, cream, margarine, meat,- etc. _ The deputation will urge that tne whole question be reviewed from the business as well as the health standpoint, as the adoption of the report would mean a severe blow to the j Australasian trade. -J
