THE WOOL MARKET
It will no doubt' afford, a certain amount, of comfort to those sheepfarmers who are awaiting, the'- coming wool -sales- with some misgiving and apprehension, that the closing prices of (he London sales neither 1 indicate nor' warrant any further drop’ in present New Zealand prices. Although many Continental buyers .had left, owipg to the postponements .necessitated by the fog, . several classes. of wool had steadily hardened, during the .last few days. ■All grades of crossbreds met with fully sustained competition with hara. ening prices. Fine grades have been in very limited supply. They closed at 5 to >lO per cent above the 1 October rates.' Medium and lower grades'were from 20 to 26 per cent higher. Slipes and) scoured crossbreds also showed advances by.: 10 to 16 per cent.
