THE PALMERSTON DEVIATION.
COMMISSIONERS ACQUAINTED WITH ITS IMPORTANCE. ,ln connection with the sitting of the Royal Commission on railways, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., has received the following letter from the secretary, Mr C. Travis, in reply to a communication recently sent in reference to the Palmerston North deviation: ‘i j am directed hy the Royal Gomans- } sioners to state that they axe. fully j seized with the importance of this J matter and that, having had the advantage of perusing the evidence, given before previous commissions and of visiting Palmerston ■North, they feel that no advantage would be gained by receiving a deputation on the subject.”
