NOTES ON THE PLAY.

Pettit, Phillips, Walton, Harvey and Dempsey, of tne Levin B team, are all very useful lads, and are sure to make good in the cricket field. Dufresne, Griff en • and Rummell were the. best of the" older players, getting 31 runs out of a total of 58. Hudson bowled splendidly for Levin. He kept a . good iengtn and tne Shannon batsmen treated him with every respect. The same may be said of Phillips, who also bowls well. Doidge, of Shannon, can still howl a good ball as he got seven of the Levin team for 24 runs. Bentley, was also in good form with the ball getting, two wickets for 6 runs. He. should be made more use of. Hemmingsen was ; the only batsman to reach double figures in Shannon’s first innings. Hunt and Morgan were the best of the others. In Levin’s second knock, H. Burrows and C. Hunt, the Shannon trundlers, went through the opposition in great style. Hemingsen and Bentley went in to win on Shannon’s second strike, and they did it as it should be done. Other batsmen of their club would. no doubt benefit by their exhibition. The plavers of cricket should understand that they can never become good players without practice. They should make it their business to get to the nets as often as they can.
