QUARTERLY COMMITTEE MEETING

W.. Goldsmiyi; presiuing. Also present; Messrs W, luiaby, H. <Je. McLean, g. P. Catley, and vv. Murdoch. Leave of absence was granted to Mrs; T. P. Gibson and ivir u S. Keedwell. 1 REPAYMENTS.
The following amounts were received from men wfio are. in/receipt of loans from the Association:—lnterest on loans: £6 10s, £3 4s, £ I J 9s &1, £3 8s 6d, £4 10s, £8 13s 4d. Interest and repayment of principal £8 7s 6d. Repayment of remainder of loan oj £iuo, cheque for £93 15s. CORRESPONDENE, The Wellington War Relief Association wrote in answer to an enquiry, that it was trie intention of. the War Graves Department, to make the graves of all ex-service.men who died in. civil life as. the result of war injuries, their especial care. A concrete w.all would be built round the grave, and a headstone, erected showing trie name of the deceased, regimental No., etc., the grave to be cared for by tlie Department in perpetuity. \ It was stated tfiat it was expected to erect 800 grave-stones within tihe next 12 months.
A fanner forwarded £2O out of £SO owing" as a repayment ■of loan, stating that he .was unable to pay the remainder as he was being pressed for overdue rates' and desired to clear these off. The case was favourably considered by the Committee and the amount received credited to tfie soldier's account.
A letter was received thanking the Association for a grant of £3 received.
in the case: of an application received from a married•: man whoyhas been incapacitated for some time owing to a Recurrence of war wounds, a grant of £2 per week for eight weeks was made.
An application was received from a tradesman in receipt of a good wage, who had incurred which •he was unable, to meet, and who asked for assistance from the Association towardsmeetingthe.se. It was decided that under the circumstances no action be taken.
Two applications i'qr postponement' of date of refund of instalments of loans, were favourably considered. In the case of an application for assistance from a man who was the liability of the Auckland Association, the local organisation was instrumental in securing a grant, of. £5 from Auckland. An application lor a loan of £SO for the purpose of purchasing furniture was deferred to allow of guarantors being secured. * As the result of representations from the Association, a man who was the responsibility of the Balclutha Association, received a grant of £4 and further assistance to the. extent of £4 per week during illness. An applica,tion for a loan of £147 for the purpose of purchasing a building section was refused.'
The Auckland and Central organisations forwarded paJrticulaife 0f... a number of unsatisfactory cases.
