MR CHURCHILL'S PORTRAIT.
LIBERAL CLUB EXERCISED.
IS IT TO; REMAIN? LONJDON, NOV. 8.. The National Liberal Club is discussing what to do, witih the excellent portrait qf Mr Winston Churciiin adorning tne smoking-room, hanging beside tne portraits of tne living dead Liberal statesmen, Mr H. a. asquith, Mr Lloyd George, to W. E. Gladstone, Mr Richard Cobden, and Mr John Bright. During the. time of the Liberal spin, from 1918 to. 1923, the portraits oi Mr Lloyd George and Mr! Churcjhill were removed from the walls, and placed in a cellar. They re-appeared when the Liberals were re-united. Some members argue that Mr Churchill w.as a, leading Liberal, and tnat therefore his portrait should remain; others contend that the club sihouid 'not honour a renegade; others suggest that it would be a graceful act to present the portrait to the constitutional Club. It is expected that the committee oi the club will decide, whether Mr Churchill can continue to be a member. Mr Hamar Greewood resigned from membersihip prior to the election.
