INSPECTION RY BOARD’S ENGINEER

In connection with the permanent repair or replacement of the Shannon bridge over the Manawatu rivei, the Countv Engineer (Mr W. N. Anderson) yesterday visited Wellington and interviewed the Public Works Department and the Main Highways Board’s Engineer (Mr G. T. Murray) as to the intention of the Department regarding the bridge, which having been taken over toy the Hignways Board (before the date o.f damage, is ho longer under the control of the County Council. ft was decided that Mr Murray should visit Shannon on Monday next and with Mr Anderson moke an inspection of the bridge, with a view ,to arriving at a decision.
