MONTHLY MEETING, ..The monthly meeting of the Horowheirua Power Board Was held on Tuesday In the Borough Chambers, Hie : ciiairiiiafi (Mr. G, A. Monk) presidihg. Also present; Messrs Brown, Kilsby, Seifert, Gunning, Matheson, Ross, Barber and Mackay. CORRESPONDENCE. An application was received from a number of settlers on the Hautere Road asking that they be connected up with the electric supply. The chairman stated that this locality would necessitate a iow-tembuii cable from the present line. He

would suggest that, the Engineer; take steps to have these■■ settlers canvassed and had no doubt that their requirements could be. met.-—Agreed. THE 1 POSITION OF CHURCHES.

The Otak.i Methodist Circuit wrote asking for special rates for the wiring of churches at Manakau k Otald, Te Hqro, Waikauue, Paraparaumu, and Paekakariki.

. The District Engineer of the Railway Department wrote in answer to a communication from the Board, that the matter of connecting the railway cottages at Paekakariki with the Board’s electric supply was . 'at present under consideration by the General Manager.—Received.

FOXTON SEASIDE TOWNSHIP. In regard tQ' the Manawatu Heads sea-side settlement, the secretary was instructed to write" tQ the residents pointing out that if they did v not come into the scheme shortly, \ it would be impossible for the Board to have arrangements fpr wiring ma.de so as to allow of tills work being done in time for .the Christmas holiday*. ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT. Accounts totalling £1853 11s 5d were passed lor payment. ERECTION OF COUNTRY LINES. Mr Kilsby asked when the work in coniiection with tlie lateral lines in the Otaki district would' be commenced. The chairman stated that the position in regard to lateral lines was that those which would pay best would be dofi’e first. He thought that lie could say that everybody in the district would be linked up within the next twelve mouths. At present the Board could not depart from tbe system at present in vogue. It was necessary that, the Board get revenue and whilst there was bound to. be some impatience, the Board was doing the best it could with the resources at its disposal. The number qi wiremen in tlie country were lim-. ited locally owing to the great demand from all over the country., No one could regret that the wiring could not be done quicker more than he did. The more wiring done the greater the revenue coming in from consumers and these people could rely on the work being pushed on as fast as possible. In answer to a question, the Engineer stated that the approximate number of consumers who would receive power if this became available from Mangafiao at the end of the month would be 700.
