Jack attempts to settle the affray. Surrounded by a gang of ruffians he raises his club just as Spike Kennedy is about to black-jack him. Tillie rushes forward and is struck. For days she hovers on death’s brink. Jack is accused, hut he proves hi« honour and ,love for Tillie.
