MUiYiIiRY MI^ETING. The monthly meeting qf the "Executive qf the Shannon Chamber of Commerce was held in the Counhil Chambers on Thursday evening, the president iMr Thwait.es). presiding. In respect tp the establishment of a High School m ; ' Siumnon, Mr Tippler, who was. appointed to canvass for names of scholars who would attend file school,, reported lie had not yet fihished liis canvass, hut as far as he had gone the results had been quite satisfactory. He hoped to complete the work in a few days. A notice oinnotion re changing the meeting iiignt of the Executive was allowed to stand over until next meeting.
i\ir H. Seifert, replying to a request to allow himself to be elected to the executive to fid the vacancy caused by Mr Murphy’s resignation, expressed his pleasure in accepting same and slated his willingness to assist in any movement in fife interests of Shannon and ditrict.
The president reported he had been successful in getting telephone communication arranged for between Tokomaru and the doctor on Sundays and during the night. Mr E. T. Moody was elected a member of the Chamber.
The next meeting will, be a general one.
