GOOD QUALITY DEMANDED. ACTION BY DISTRICT DAIRY faqtories. A special meeting of the executive of the Manawatu and West Coast Ikivry , Companies’ Association, was held this week to further consider the question of ensuring the supply of factories of only good quality milk and cream. There were present: Messrs S. A. Broadbelt (Levin), in the chair; C. G. C. Dermer (Cheltenham)', T. Hansford (Whakaronga), Jas. Boyce (Glen Oroua) and J. W. Teal© (Kairamga). > The basis of discussion was a resolution passed at the annual meeting and which read: “That it be a recom--inendation to the executive to arrange agreements between all the factories not to accept milk or .cream refused by other companies for poorness of quality, and to arrange a definite uni-. form, system of grading.” ,

A discussion took place on ways and means o.f carrying out the suggestion contained in the resolution. It was finally decided to advise factories that the Government had stated that, on application being made by factor, ies, dairy instructors would be appointed and subsidised. It wias further decided to send the following proposed agreement to dairy factories for appro,vial and signature; “Wo agree not to accept cream or milk from any Supplier who has ceased supplying, or. desires to cease suppllying, any factory for the reason .that such other factory (or factories) has refused to accept his cream or milk, owing to its being of bad or inferior quality. The factory manager of the particular- factory which has rejected the milk or cream is to be the judge of the fitness of such cream or milk for manufacture into butter or cheese, and soldi factory shall give .notification immediately (in any case within three days) to all other factories operating in that district, and shall also notify the secretary of this association, who shall in turn notify ea oh signatory to this agreement, that such milk or cream has been rejected for manufacture into butter or cheese.”
