IN PARLIAMENT.

♦ BATTLE) PENDING OVER ELECTORAL REFORM. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The House will' meet on Tuesday, when references will be made to legislators who have gone over; the “great majority” during the recess. There will then be an adjournment, as a mark of respect to the memory of these gentlemen. On Wednesday the Address-in-Reply, debate will be begun by Mr Bitchenen and it is expected the debate will last quite a fortnight, as the House evidently is in a talkative mood. One of the early Bills of the session will be the Expiring Laws, Continuance Bill, and the Labour members appear very confident it will contain provision for continuance- rent restriction legislation .One of the most interesting battles of the session may rage round the question of electoral reform, which may be one of the few big nonparty measures brought down by the Government. For this reason, particular interest will attach to any answer Sir John Luke may' get to thee following question to the Prime Minister: "Whether the Government intends this session to promote legislation to amend the electoral laws, and if so, what will be the nature of any proposed alterations.” ■ > Another question of wide interest has been asked in the House, this one by Sir George Hunter, who wants to know whether the Government will deal with the question of relieving racing dubs from the present v excessive taxation. . It is understood that racing authorities who have investigated the question reecntly, are not hopeful of obtaining a reduction.
