A THEATRICAL RECORD. : The oldest touming compay in the world at present is. the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Originally starting in 1863 they, have toured every clime, and have sung heiore audiences composed o.f the leading representatives of the nations oi the world. It is estimated that the favourite “Steal Away” lias been sung by them 16,000 times and . yet night after night requests lor this number are 'handed to the management. Of course the old personnel has changed considerably, although ' Miss Belle Gibbons is still with tne troupe and Miss Marjorie Ajlwyne. ‘Mr Harry Penn and . Mr Huntley Spencer have toured with the company on a previous occasiqn. The • hew artists in the company include Miss Bell (cqntralto), /Mr Maxwell (basso), Mr, ,C. D.arcy (baritone), Miss Joyce (operatic soprano), and Miss Thompson (soprano). Tne latter lady has had a brilliant future predicted lor her. Mr Maxwell is a fine basso, whose voice is described by' the critics as singing with purity of quality and full of character. Mr Huntley Spencer is one of the finest coloured, singers in Australia and his quaint sense of humour adds the necessary piquancy to a* programme laden with good things. The Singers appear at the Maoriland Theatre on Friday.
