Ken Carter, £44 lis 4d and costs £3 le. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. . In the case of. E. W. Wise v. W. W. Carter, an order was made for the amount, £lO 5s "6d, with costs £1 Is, to be paid at the rate of 10s per mohth, in default 14 days, DEFENCE ACT CASES. Fitzgerald Bell was charged with failing to attend drill. Captain Stewart prosecuted for the Deience Department. Mr P. Harper, who appeared for the defence, stated that the defendant had applied to Sergt.-Major Pea'.' to be placed on the rose we. TMs had been promised and when Bell later got notice to attend drill he had thought, it was a. mistake. Capt, Stewart stated that tins youth had failed to register, then bv missing six years' service. He had fir.ally registered of -his''own accord, in March of tin's year. Fined £2 and costs 7s. QUITTING A MOVING TRAIN.

Levin he did quit a tni.in whilst it was in motion and further that he did trespass upon a part of the line to Which tine public are not "allowed access. Accused, who was represented by Mr K. E. Adams, pleaded guilty. The nolice explained' thai -the accused left the Auckland*"exnress at levin. The train was not timed to stop at Levin and according to the <mard of the Iraln was travelling at 12 miles per hour at the time accused had left it. These cases were brought in -flip interests of public safety to save people from themselves. Mr Adams stated, that according to his client the train was onlv travelling at four miles per hour. The train usually stopped to allow the New Plvrnmith express to. pass and it-was a common thinq- for people to step off. Fined £2 and costs 7s. . POLICE CASK.
Herbert Stratton charged with u«ins: insulting 'language in a'. public place whereby a breach of the peace might have been, occasioned was fined '£2"and costs 12s. WANDERING STOCK.
Harry Murdoch, neing the owner of seven head of "stock found wanderm<r in the Shannon Borough, was fined £1 .and-..costs 75.. William Gardner, similarly, charged was fined £1 and costs 7s. G Pafua.ka. on four charges of allowing one bull to wander on the Kuku West Road, was fined 5" and costs 12s on earn charge.
